The Paws Awhile Dream
A few years ago, I realized that my precious little Gunther was not going to be with me for much longer. It broke my heart. He was my best friend. It was also very upsetting that there was no place in Alexandria that I wanted to put him. He deserved to be put in a nice place. Someplace where he would never be disturbed. I thought about that a lot. I also knew other people felt the same way about their pets. I knew then what I wanted to do. I wanted to open a pet cemetery. A really nice place like the ones people have. It would have a Chapel, bird and squirrel feeders, and benches. And trees, lots of trees. I did the research. I came up with a name and a logo. I had some big plans, but no money. I started to save to make that dream come true. My profession is bookkeeping, so I rounded up a couple of clients outside of my job and did the work under my company name, Paws Awhile.
After losing little Gunther and going through some extremely stressful issues at work, I decided my health was more important than that job. At that point, I had to get serious about Paws Awhile. I already had my domain name, so all I had to do was set up my web page and online gift shop. It can be hard work, but it is also a lot of fun. I have even expanded on my plans. I think I'll also have a gift shop, a pet day care and hotel, a grooming parlor and a rescue shelter for unloved and unwanted animals. Unfortunately, the cemetery is going to take a lot of money and the present economy is not cooperating with my dreams. I have gone back to a regular job to pay for my everyday living expenses. My Mother and I have also opened a booth at Jessie's Antique Barn in Libuse, Louisiana. Sales are good and I am able to cover the expenses of the business, but I am not able to save enough to actually build the cemetery or the other things I mentioned earlier. So, if any of you out there have any ideas on how to raise the money or get a grant, please e-mail me.
